Ajay Devgn’s sports drama ‘Maidaan’, will get a release on the silver screen. The movie set-up in the backdrop of the most like sport in the world -Football, has got a new release date. This inspirational story about change and self-belief will now release on 13th August 2021 and it will enjoy an Independence Day weekend at the box office.


The film was earlier set to release on 27 November 2020 and got postponed to 11 December 2020 due to lock-down. But now, Ajay Devgn has shared the new official date of his film through his Twitter account.

There were speculations about the digital release of the movie, but producer Boney Kapoor denied all the rumors. In his interview, Boney said that OTT platforms and theaters can co-exist. He also said that some producers who don’t mind waiting for a theatrical release, digital platforms will help those who have their films ready and may not be in a position to wait to recover financial investments.

The backdrop of ‘Maidaan’ revolves around Indian football and its golden days. Ajay Devgn plays legendary coach Syed Abdul Rahim along with Priyamani and Gajraj Rao in pivotal roles. The sports drama is directed by Amit Sharma
