Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar once again stepped forward for the nation by donating Rs 1 crore for Assam flood relief. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal shared a note of thanks for the generosity of the actor, “Heartly grateful Mr. Akshay Kumar for your donation of Rs 1 crore towards Assam flood relief. There’s been continuous support from you at the times of crisis. As a well-wisher of Assam, I always pray Almighty for blessing you with all the success and glory in the global arena.”
Leading news daily reported that Bollywood superstar previously donated Rs 2 crore towards flood relief. Assam once again witnessed a devastating flood killing 113 people in 22 districts, along with 26 others who have been killed in landslides since May 22.
The movement of monsoon clouds away from the state has proven to be significantly helpful in improvising the conditions in the first week of August after two-month-long floods, however, more than 6,000 people in 21 villages of 4 districts remain affected till now. Districts of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Baksa, and Charaideo are the most affected areas.
The officials from Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) stated that the Brahmaputra River still flowing above the danger mark in the districts of Dhubri, Sonitpur, and Jorhat.
