Akshay Kumar has become the only Bollywood actor to be listed on prestigious ‘top-10 of Forbes’ highest-paid male actors of 2020. Despite having no theatrical release this year, Akshay made on the sixth spot with earnings of $48.5 million.
Reports reveal that a major source of income is product endorsements. The ‘Khiladi’ actor had a cop-flick ‘Sooryavanshi’ slated for release in April but got postponed due to the COVID-induced lockdown. Other projects of the actor include ‘Prithviraj’, ‘Bell Bottom’, ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Atrangi Re’, and ‘Hera Pheri 3’.
Apart from his Bollywood contemporaries, Akshay also beat biggies like Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hollywood stars Will Smith, Adam Sandler, and International action superstar Jackie Chan in the number game.
Meanwhile, wrestler-turned-movie star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson gained the prime spot of the world’s highest-paid male actors for the second time in a row. Johnson earned $87.5 million from June 1, 2019, to June 1, 2020, Forbes said, including $23.5 million from an OTT film release. He also benefited from his fitness wear line.
2nd in the list, Ryan Reynolds, renowned as ‘Deadpool’ earned $71.5 million in total for the one-year period. Actor and producer Mark Wahlberg, came in third with $58 million, followed by Ben Affleck with $55 million and Vin Diesel rounded off the top 5 spots with $54 million.
