On March 16, the makers of Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film, Jersey, were forced to call off their Chandigarh schedule following the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Mirror has now learned that after a six-month break, the team will resume work from the primary week of October.
“We will begin with a 15-day outdoor schedule in Dehradun and Chandigarh. We won’t be shooting any cricketing portions, just a few dramatic and emotional scenes between Mrunal Thakur and Shahid,” reveals a source on the brink of the event. The Gowtam Tinnanuri directorial is about in two different time frames and this shoot is going to be with Shahid in his older avatar.
Jersey is that the official remake of Nani’s 2019 Telugu hit by the same name and marks the return of Shahid on the large screen after the Arjun Reddy remake, Kabir Singh, which was a game-changer for the actor. it’s about an aging cricketer who returns to the sport after a decade with the thought of earning some money to pay his lawyer’s fee and buy his son an Indian team jersey. He makes a shocking comeback before there’s another twist in his biography.
With around 30 percent of the shoot remaining, there’ll be one last schedule that can focus on the sport. “Shahid has already started brushing up his cricketing skills together with his coach, but extensive training will begin just once the rains subside, towards October-end,” the source shares. “The plan is to conclude the film by December and target a 2021 release. The post-production work has been happening through the lockdown, with teams working remotely from their homes.”
After wrapping up Jersey, Shahid will begin prep of his upcoming action film with Shashank Khaitan titled Yoddha. It pairs him for the first time with Disha Patani and will appear in the first quarter of 2021. “It’s an up to date action film which will be shot across several countries. Prep has begun with the team designing some daredevil stunts. Interestingly, even Disha will get an opportunity to urge into action,” the source signs off.
