Kangana Ranaut took a dig at the Maharashtra government after a residential building collapsed in Bhiwandi early Monday morning. Taking to her Twitter handle, the actress said that if the state government wasn’t “obsessed” together with her, they might know “how the whole state is collapsing.”


“Meanwhile Maharashtra government क-क-क-क-कंगना ….. if they stop being obsessed with me they’re going to know how the whole state is collapsing,” Kangana said in response to a tweet that alleged such incidents happen when the govt. “has the time to dismantle @KanganaTeam’s office!”


Kangana has been during a war of words with the Maharashtra government and therefore the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) after the civic body demolished portions of her Bandra office. While the BMC cited ‘illegal alterations’ in their notice, the actress claimed she had all the required approvals. She has also asked for Rs 2 crore in damages.


According to reports, the residential building that was due for repairs, collapsed injuring many and killing a minimum of eight people, officials said. Many also are feared trapped within the debris.


Rescue workers were on the spot trying to seek out and free the various trapped within the rubble of the multi-story building. The Director-General (DG), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) said that individuals, including a 19-year-old youth, were rescued alive from the location.


The incident happened at around 3:40 am. consistent with the NDRF, the estimated number of individuals trapped at the location is between 25 to 30.


President Ram Nath Kovind offered condolences to the families of the victims during a tweet that read, “The loss of lives within the building collapse at Bhiwandi, Maharashtra is sort of distressing. during this hour of grief, my thoughts and prayers are with the accident victims. I wish speedy recovery of the injured. Local authorities are coordinating rescue and relief efforts.”


PM Modi also expressed anguish at the loss of lives. “Saddened by the building collapse in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra. Condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for a fast recovery of these injured. Rescue operations are underway and every one possible assistance is being provided to the affected,” he said during a tweet.
