The Himachal Pradesh government will provide police protection to actress Kangana Ranaut on the request of her father and sister. This update comes in shortly after the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Sunday, said that the state government is considering providing security to the Bollywood actress for her Mumbai visit on September 9.
In a statement, Thakur mentioned that Kangana’s sister called him to make the request and her father also put forth a formal letter to the Himachal police, requesting security.
We’ve received a written application for granting police protection from Kangana Ranaut’s family. There’s been a discussion with Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel yesterday. DGP Haryana Police has already been instructed and security will be provided with immediate effect. Possibilities are being searched for assuring Kangana’s security outside Himachal Pradesh as she’s leaving for Mumbai on September 9 said Jai Ram Thakur, Chief Minister Himachal Pradesh.
Queen actress was also backed by Haryana Minister Anil Vij, who said that she must be provided with police protection. ‘Freedom of speech’ is a fundamental right and nobody can be threatened for making revelations about the dark side of the glamour world.
He also slammed Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut for allegedly threatening Ranaut about coming to Mumbai after she expressed her fears about the Mumbai police and even went on to compare the city and state at large to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Her statements didn’t go down well with politicians but also created an uproar among residents of the state.
Nobody is the owner of Mumbai city and anyone can go there. People who are threatening her must be punished severely. One cannot put a boundation over the others for telling the truth. People take out candle marches on every issue but their silence in this matter is not understandable. Why no awards are being returned for supporting the brave actress who’s been threatened for saying the right things? Vij concluded.
The war of words between the Shiv Sena MP Raut and Ranaut took a fresh turn with the latter accusing Raut of “empowering those who exploit women” in the country. This will not be forgotten by the daughters of India.
When asked about his take on Kangana’s remarks and the ongoing Sushant Singh Rajput case, the Himachal Pradesh CM, refused to comment saying that the matter is being investigated.
