Kanika Kapoor returned to her home in Lucknow from the city’s Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (PGIMS) after battling Covid-19 for days. After testing coronavirus-positive for five times in a row, the singer tested negative for the novel coronavirus in her sixth test and was discharged from the hospital.
On Sunday, she posted a photo of herself having a cup of tea with her family members. She wrote, “All we require is warmth in smile & heart and hot tea #familytime #lucknowdiaries #stayhomestaysafe (sic).”
Earlier, on Sunday, she shared a long post on Instagram in which she gave clarifications on “wrong information”. She said that there have been several “wrong exchanges of information” regarding her travel timeline and battle with the disease. In the long note, the singer gave a detailed explanation of her travel and her coronavirus diagnosis.
In the statement, the singer said she is aware of “several versions of stories” about her diagnosis, but “negativity thrown at a person does not change the reality”.
“Some of these raised more because I remained silent till now. I stayed quiet not because I am wrong but in-fact being fully aware that there have been misunderstandings and wrong exchanges of information. I was giving time for the truth to prevail and for people to reach their own realization (sic),” the statement read.
Kanika said there were certain facts about her case which she wanted to clarify, initiating with every person she meets in UK, Mumbai or Lucknow had no symptoms of deadly virus infection and all those were tested negative for COVID-19.
Kanika was the first Bollywood personality to test positive for the novel coronavirus on March 20. She came under attack for negligence and not self-isolating despite returning to the country from the UK amid the coronavirus pandemic. The singer was accused of attending parties and meeting people after returning from the UK and not disclosing her travel history.
She was also booked by the Uttar Pradesh Police for negligence and committing acts that were likely to spread the infection after she attended at least three gatherings in Lucknow.
Kanika Kapoor returned to her home from the hospital on April 6.
