The bubbly actress of telly world Sumona Chakravarti in a recent interview spoke about the difficulty in finding some really good work these days. The actress was missing from the popular show for quite some time. The 31-year-old candidly confessed about ‘literally’ asking for work while working on her PR skills.
She added, “I am not into socializing or visit parties. I much prefer going back home or hang out with friends after shooting. Many might have forgotten I exist. But, I think it’s very important to make your presence felt these days if you want to continue as an actor.”
Sumona said, “I guess people think I’m arrogant or ask for heavy remuneration and so on. But that’s not true. I want to clear it for everyone out there that being an actor, I’ve only demanded what I deserve and I’m open to negotiate for a good project. I know my PR skills aren’t impressive. I realized that quite late… Now, I’m changing my approach, socializing with people, even calling and messaging them; literally asking for work,”
On being quizzed about the kind of characters and genres she would like to do, the actress replied, “The typical hero-heroine days are gone, most focus is now on good stories and ensemble cast and if I get roped into leading roles, I’d definitely love to do it, again if I’m offered an essential character to the plot, I’d take that, too. It can’t be like if you remove the character the story still progresses, there needs to be some significance.”
For the uninitiated, Sumona Chakravarti has previously been a part of TV serials such as Sapno Se Bhare Naina, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Jamai Raja to name a few. She has also successfully displayed her comic side in Kahani Comedy Circus Ki, Comedy Nights With Kapil and The Kapil Sharma Show.
