The 66th National Film Awards took place at Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi on 23rd Dec 2019. These are the highest awards given for excellence in Indian cinema every year. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu gave away the prestigious awards to winners in various categories. Sonali Kulkarni and Divya Dutta were the hosts of the award ceremony. Andhadhun bagged the award for the Best Feature Film in Hindi and while ‘Badhaai Ho’ was awarded the Best Popular Award.

Actors Vicky Kaushal & Ayushman Khurana shared the best actor awards, filmmakers Sriram Raghavan and Aditya Dhar too received the best direction award for ‘Andhadhun’ and ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’ respectively. Akshay Kumar’s ‘Padman’ was given the award of the best movie on social issues. Sanjay Leela Bhansali grabbed the award for best music in ‘Padmaavat’ along with Shashwat Sachdev was awarded the National Award for Best Music Direction (Background Music) in Uri: The Surgical Strike.
