With cinema halls re-opening and Bollywood returning to figure slowly, keeping in mind the new pandemic norms, we’ll soon witness the clash of titans at the box office once more. With actors also continuing to shoot and producers declaring their projects’ release dates, the domestic box office, which was quiet for long, will also see some action.

While no big-budgeted films are scheduled to release soon, the audience will need to wait a short time before the Bollywood biggies begin with all their guns blazing after an extended break. Meanwhile, we take a walk down the history lane and see the box office rivalry that Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan have shared through these a few years within the industry.

Despite sharing an honest camaraderie in the real world, SRK and Akshay have ended up locking horns at the box office on multiple occasions. In 1993, they experienced their first box office battle when ‘Waqt Hamara Hai’ starring Akshay was released alongside SRK’s ‘Maya Memsaab.’ While Khiladi Kumar’s film managed to shine at the box office, SRK returned the favor the second time they locked horns at the box office in 2004. ‘Veer Zaara’ and ‘Aitraaz’ were released on November 12 and managed to gather Rs 41.86 crore and Rs 15.58 crore, respectively.

Post that, In 2006, Akshay worked in ‘Jaan-E-Maan’ with Salman Khan. Crime-thriller ‘Don’ featuring SRK managed to overlook the domestic circuit and earned almost double Akshay’s film. With a set of Rs 50.34 crore, SRK’s ‘Don’ also cleared the trail for an additional sequel, which came call in 2011.
Both the well-established actors, who enjoy an enormous fan following across the world, are always trending on social media before their film’s release. While their fans are always hostile over their favorite actor’s supremacy in Bollywood, they nearly witnessed another titan clash in 2013.

‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara!’ and the ‘Chennai Express’ makers avoided a face-off within the cinemas. While the release of Akshay’s action-drama was postponed every week, but that did not seem to bother SRK and Deepika Padukone’s ‘Chennai Express’ because it took off on an honest note and witnessed a juggernaut run at the box office. But it even broke many records and created a monstrous total of Rs 207.69 crore within the domestic circuit. Meanwhile, on the opposite hand, ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara!’ managed to earn Rs 58.49 crore at the box office.

Meanwhile, Akshay dominated 2019 with multiple releases that hit the bull’s eye at the box office; SRK was last seen in Aanand L. Rai’s movie ‘Zero’ with lead actresses Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. While Akshay has shot for ‘Bell Bottom’ and continued his next film, Shahrukh is yet to announce his next film.
